NOTES
Frank:
Mov 1:
Tempo!!! Please go back to the recording of Frank and listen to the tempo of the first movement. I'd like to push the tempo to match the recording. We've been practicing it slower than performance tempo. It's time to bring it up to speed! The composer asks quarter=152.
Mov 2:
Don't underestimate this movement! Practice the slow sections too. Also, practice the middle fast section with a metronome many times (dotted quarter = 156). It's FAST! And there's no time to think when you play it, so it needs to be in your fingers/physical memory.
Mov 3:
Tempo!!! Please practice with a metronome and the recording! Dotted quarter = 80. I sent notes separately to a few sections of the orchestra about this movement.
Gershwin:
For this whole piece the notes are mostly there from everybody. From here until the concert, please focus on *slow* practice so you can play every single detail in your part, specifically articulations (accents, short notes, etc) and dynamics!
