NOLA.COM: Free LPO show at Saenger Theatre celebrates history of the restored New Orleans landmark
The Saenger Theatre has teamed with theLouisiana Philharmonic Orchestra to present a free show at the restored New Orleans landmark. On Oct. 2, the acclaimed classical ensemble will perform music from the Saenger’s history as a film and theater venue.
The program has not been finalized, but selections will span the life of the hall, from 1927 to the present. Guest conductor Raul Gomez will lead the LPO.
Most tickets will be distributed to area schools, but the public also is welcome at the Wednesday morning program.
Free tickets are available for pickup at the box office for the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts at 1419 Basin St. Tickets are required for entrance to the concert, but seats will be first come, first served.
